My Projects
Chat
This project, titled "chat-app", is a real-time messaging application built using a combination of backend and frontend technologies. The backend is developed using Node.js and Express, with MongoDB as the database, managed through Mongoose. The app uses Socket.io to facilitate real-time communication between users, allowing messages to be sent and received instantly. JWT (JSON Web Token) and bcryptjs are used for secure user authentication and password encryption. Cookies are handled via cookie-parser to manage session data. The frontend is housed in the frontend directory, and the app is designed to run in a development environment powered by nodemon for automatic server restarts. The project also incorporates environment variables using dotenv for sensitive configurations. The scripts section includes commands for starting the server, handling builds, and managing dependencies for both the backend and frontend. The build process ensures the frontend dependencies are installed, and the frontend is built correctly using Vite. The project supports Node.js 20.x and has an optional engine for Bun, a fast JavaScript runtime. Overall, this chat app provides a robust foundation for a scalable, real-time communication platform.
